Octet

Octet: New York, School of Visual Arts`dan Seçme Yapıtlar sergisi, New York`taki School of Visual Arts` ın Güzel Sanatlar Bölümü öğretim üyeleri, mezunları ve öğrencileri tarafından gerçekleştirilen resim, desen, heykel, yerleştirme, fotoğraf ve dijital sanat türündeki 111 yapıttan oluşuyordu. Çağdaş sanattaki güncel meseleleri ele alarak uluslararası bir kültür platformunda karşımıza çıkan birbirinden farklı yönelimleri bir arada sunan sergi kataloğunda, çağdaş görsel sanatları tanımlayan sekiz kategoriden yapıtlar yer alıyor: İmge Olarak Sözcük, Post-Pop ve Tabloid, Malzeme Önemlidir, Bedensel ve İlahi, Dünya Oyunları, Anlatı Öncelikleri, İlişkisel Estetik ve Kimlik ve Kimlik Politikaları. Octet, sanatın zaman ve uzamda sınır tanımaması, bilgi üretimi, estetik deneyim ve toplumsal sözleşmeye katılım konularını anlamaya, düşünmeye ve yeniden düşünmeye yönelik arayışları da bu seçkiyle bir arada sunuyor.

Octet: New York, Selected Works from the School of Visual Arts was an exhibition of 111 artworks, which showcased painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, photography and the digital arts, created by faculty, alumni and students of the Fine Arts Department at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Octet catalogue presents an amalgam of diverse threads operating within an international cultural platform enabling a platform for the discussion of current issues. The exhibition consisted of eight categories describing contemporary visual art: Word As Image, Post-Pop and Tabloid, Material Matters, The Corporeal and the Divine, World Dramas, Narrative Imperatives, Relational Aesthetics and Identity and Identity Politics. The selection of work exhibited in Octet presented art`s freedom from the constraints of time and space, allowing our desire for understanding, considering and reconsidering systems of knowledge production, aesthetic experience.
