Rüya Tabirnamesi

Rüya ve rüyaların yorumu, insanlık tarihi boyunca hep gündemde olmuştur. Rüyanınmahiyeti, oluşumu ve görülen rüyaların yorumlarıyla ilgili hemDoğu`da hemBatı`daönemli eserler kaleme alınmıştır. Bunlardan biri de Avanzâde Mehmet Süleyman(vefat 1922) tarafından hazırlanan elinizdeki bu kitaptır. Yazar, iki bölümolarakdüzenlendiği kitabın ilk bölümünde uyku, rüya ve kâbus hakkında ayrıntılı bilgilervermiştir. Bu bilgileri başta İbni Sirin ve Nablusi olmak üzere DoğuluveÉmileMaximilien Paul Littré gibi Batılı yazarların eserlerinden derleyerek sunmuştur. Eserin ikinci bölümünde alfabetik olarak 1258 madde başında rüyada görülenlerinyorumunu vermiştir. Kitap; rüya, uyku, kâbus ve hipnotizma gibi konularlarüyayorumlarına dair Doğulu ve Batılı kaynaklardan derlenen bilgilerle zenginleştirilmiştir. Bu yönüyle sadece sözlük biçimimde hazırlanmış olan tâbirnamelerden ayrılıpkonuylailgili önemli bir başvuru kaynağı olmuştur.

Dreams and the interpretation of dreams have occupied a central place throughout humanhistory. The nature (mahiyyah) of dreams, their formation, and the interpretation (ta?bir) of
what is seen in dreams have been the subject of significant works written in both theEast
and the West. One such work is the present book prepared by Avanzâde Mehmet Süleyman(d. 1922). The author arranged the book in two parts. In the first part, he provides detailed
information on sleep, dreams (ru?ya), and nightmares. These discussions arecompiled primarily from the works of Eastern authorities—most notably IbnSirinandal-Nabulusi—as well as from Western authors such as Émile Maximilien Paul Littré. In the second part of the work, the interpretations of what is seen in dreams arepresented alphabetically under 1,258 entries. The book is enriched with material
drawn from both Eastern and Western sources on dream interpretation, addressingtopics such as dreams, sleep, nightmares, and hypnotism. In this respect, it goesbeyond the traditional ta?birnames prepared merely in dictionary formand standsout as a significant reference work in the field of dream interpretation.
