Gelince Haber VerMount Nemrut, the highest peak in the Taurus range, lies in the Turkish province of Adıyaman. In the first century B.C., King Antiochus I of Commagene built a 50-meter-high tumulus on Nemrut’s summit. To the east and west of this mound of stones, the ruler constructed two terraces, where he erected 9-meter statues of himself and the gods.
