From My Eyes - Benim Gözümden Kısa Özet
Sınır bölgelerindeki mülteci kamplarında, mülteci yaşamları gözlemleyen tutkulu ve genç fotoğrafçı Melisa Akgül’ün çektiği fotoğraflardaki görüntüler birçok duyguyu aynı anda uyandırırken, fotoğrafçı fotoğrafın gücü ile evrensel bir iletişim dili kuruyor.
Fotoğraf dersinde fotoğraf çekmeye başlayan Akgül 2016 başlarında bakışlarını mültecilerin umutsuz hayatlarına çevirdi ve İstanbul’a göç eden Suriyeli mültecilerin fotoğraflarını çekmeye karar verdi. Sonrasında Hatay, Yayladağı’na giderek oradaki mültecilerin hayatlarını belgeledi ve 2016 yazında açtığı *Yolculuk* başlıklı ilk sergisinden, sağlanan geliri TEV’e bağışladı. 2017’de, mülteci çocuklara kamerasını vererek onların bakış açılarından dünyayı göstermeye çalışan Akgül’ün, ikinci sergisi *Yansıma* ise UNICEF yararına gerçekleşti.
Fotoğrafı ile Melisa Akgül, savaşın etkilerine ve evlerinden yurtlarından edilen insanların hayatlarına ışık tutmayı amaçlıyor.
Melisa Akgül is a passionate young photojournalist who travels around the borders and visits the refugee camps to witness and document the refuging lives. Her images provoke many emotions at once, and she enjoys to communicate in an universal language through the power of photography.
Akgül first started to take photographs in the photography classes and then turned her gaze to the desperate lives of the refugees. And early 2016, she started to take pictures of the Syrian refugees those immigrated to Istanbul, Turkey. Afterwards, she travelled to Syrian Turkish border Yayladağı, Hatay to document the lives of the refugees down there. Her first exhibition, *Journey,* took place in summer 2016 and its entire income went to Turkish Education Foundation, TEV. The year after, to show the world from their very own perspectives, she gave her camera to the refugee children and created her second exhibition *Reflection,* in favour of UNICEF.
Through her photography, Melisa Akgül aims to highlight the dreadful effects of the war and shed some light to the lives of people those have been displaced from one place to other
