Britain has many legends which, for hundreds of years, its people have told to explain the history of their land. There are stories about magic stones in England, giants in Ireland, a Scottish king and a spider, a Welsh prince and his dog, an Englishman and his cat, a famous lady on her horse... and legends about the wizard Merlin and the Loch Ness monster too.
